ELVVAWS April 2019 Meeting: Cline Family Cellars & the Mizpah Hotel

Proprietor Nancy Cline (link) will lead us on a one-of-a-kind virtual wine tasting tour that combines her two passions: Wines from Cline Family Cellars (link) in Sonoma, CA and the careful, painstaking restoration of the historic Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah, NV (link) We’ll taste our way through Nancy’s hand-picked selection of Cline Family wines (many unavailable in Las Vegas!) and learn how her pursuit of authenticity and adventure rekindled a love for the Mizpah, Tonopah, and the true spirit of Nevada (link).

ELVVAWS March 2019 Meeting: Grape Expectations & Vegas Valley Winery

Our next meeting is on THURSDAY March 28, 2018 – 6:30p.m. at Grape Expectations Nevada School of Winemaking (7360 Eastgate Road, Suite 125, Henderson, NV 89011). Please note change of date!

General Manager/Chief Winemaker Mike “Big Mike” Schoenbaechler will lead us through the hands-on wine making process that students at Grape Expectations Nevada School of Winemaking (link) get to experience firsthand. We’ll sip our way through some of the tastiest fruits of their labors as Mike also shares the story of the recent roll out of the Vegas Valley Winery (link), the first winery in Clark County, NV! (yes, more wine!). This will be an exciting opportunity to hear the story first hand from the guy that deftly navigated federal, state, and local bureaucracies – and lived to tell the tale!

Tasting fee for members is $12 per person and $20 per couple.  Non-member fee is $16 per person.  CASH ONLY!

ELVVAWS Feb 2019 Meeting: Exploring Southern AZ Wines

Our next meeting is on WEDNESDAY February 13, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Veil at the Silverton Hotel Casino (3333 Blue Diamond Road 89139).

“Exploring Southern Arizona Wines” will be a virtual tasting tour through one of the fastest growing wine regions in the country. Join us as we welcome James Callahan, award-winning winemaker at Rune Wines in Sonoita, AZ, and 20-year Sonoita resident Jay Bileti, AWS National Director of Member Services and AWS Certified Wine Judge. James and Jay’s knowledge and expertise in Southern Arizona wines is unparalleled. The wines will be fantastic. This is an event not to be missed!

ELVVAWS Dec 2018 Meeting: Holiday Party

Our next meeting is set for Thursday December 13th at 6:30 pm at Grape Expectations at 7360 Eastgate, Suite 125, Henderson NV 89011.  It can get chilly there, so please dress accordingly.

 Similar to last year, we are going to have wines set up at various tasting stations, and you serve yourself, no waiting for anyone to pour wine for you!  This will give us all time to socialize, hang out, listen to some great music and try new wines!

ELVVAWS June 2018 Meeting: Lodi Wines

Our next meeting is set for WEDNESDAY June 6, 2018 ​at 6:30 p.m. ​at Veil Pavilion at the Silverton (3333 Blue Diamond Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89139​). ​We will be enjoying the wines of Lodi!

Our speaker Stuart Spencer was recently named the executive director of the Lodi Winegrape Commission after serving as a program director there for 19 years. Stuart is also the owner & winemaker at St. Amant Winery, his family’s enterprise that was founded in 1979. Stuart is one of the founding winemakers of the “Lodi Native” group that is dedicated to crafting distinctive wines from Lodi’s historic old Zinfandel vineyards. St. Amant is regarded as one of California’s leading experts on Portuguese and Spanish varieties in California soil.

Join us for a special evening with Stuart Spencer as we experience an exciting and unique opportunity to hear from a Lodi expert while sampling world class wines from this outstanding region.
